What's Green Gas you ask? Well, in airsoft, green gas is mainly used as the propellant for gas pistols and rifles. Green Gas can be found in any airsoft store and can be found under many different brands, however, they are all pretty much the same. GBB, gas blow-back, airsoft guns can get expensive to use as Green Gas is relatively more expensive than other gasses.
So What Exactly is Green Gas?
Green Gas is basically just C3H8, otherwise known as propane. The only difference is Green Gas is propane mixed in with a silicon lubricant to lubricate the gun as it fires. Why would you care to know the composition of Green Gas? Because there is a much cheaper alternative.
Propane can be bought at places like Wal-mart, RiteAid, and Ace Hardware. It can be bought much cheaper than Green Gas, and since it doesn't contain any lubricants it packs a much stronger punch, boosting your gas gun's FPS.
Sounds Great! But What's the Catch?
Well, since propane does not contain the added lubricants found in Green Gas, it doesn't lubricate the gun as the gun fires. This can causes problems such as a leaking valve and a rough slide. However there's an easy fix that still allows propane to be much cheaper.
Things You'll Need
1. Propane
2. Propane adapter
3. Silicon oil
You can find the propane adapter and silicon lubricant on any airsoft store. What you do is screw on the propane adapter onto the propane tank and then put a few drops of the silicon oil into the adapter.
And then voila! Green Gas for about $5 a bottle. :)
